Global tech solutions provider Arrow Electronics has announced its support for Indonesia’s SAVART Motors in the design and manufacture of high-quality, safe, and affordable electric scooters, with the first batch set to be on the road by Q2 2025.
Founded in 2018, SAVART Motors is among the few Indonesian brands with in-house R&D capabilities, advanced prototyping, and a dedicated testing and manufacturing facility in Mojokerto, East Java.
Indonesia, the world’s third-largest motorcycle market, has nearly 130 million motorcycles on its roads, significantly impacting air quality. In response, the government aims to achieve 13 million electric two-wheelers by 2030, supporting eco-friendly commuting and reducing greenhouse emissions.
Empowering Homegrown EV Entrepreneurs
SAVART Motors designs its scooters from the ground up, blending design aesthetics with performance tailored for local conditions and market expectations. With a focus on quality, safety, and R&D excellence, most components are developed in-house by Indonesian engineers.
“At SAVART Motors, we’re proud to electrify Indonesia’s transportation with locally designed and produced vehicles. We recently achieved a 74.27% TKDN verification, measuring our domestic component level,” said Dr. William E. Taifan, CEO of SAVART Motors.
“Through our collaboration with Arrow Electronics, we can source advanced components from global brands, bolstering our designs and scaling production efficiently while upholding our commitment to quality and innovation.”
Enhancing Design for Manufacturability
“Electrification and AI-powered technologies are transforming transportation,” said Dr. Raphael Salmi, president of Arrow Electronics’ South Asia, Korea & Japan components business. “We’re thrilled to support SAVART Motors with essential engineering capabilities and supply chain services to create EVs that prioritise safety, comfort, and ease of use for Indonesian riders.
“By offering a comprehensive technology portfolio, we aim to be their trusted technology supplier in their mission to revolutionise sustainable e-mobility in Indonesia and beyond.”
A significant portion of electronic components in SAVART’s latest model is sourced through Arrow. Alongside SAVART’s R&D efforts, Arrow has provided engineering support and system integration guidance, including on smart control units, AI-based user profiling, keyless and fingerprint security, and advanced battery management systems.
