The Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA) 2023 is pleased to honor 78 outstanding business leaders and enterprises for championing sustainable and responsible business practices. Presented by leading regional NGO Enterprise Asia, the AREA is the most reputable award recognition program recognizing organizational efforts in creating a culture of compassion, integrity, and in being socially responsible corporate citizens. The AREA serves as a badge of excellence to spur further innovation and best-practice for sharing about the organization and the world at large.
AIA Thailand was among the recipients who were conferred with the Health Promotion Award. AIA Thailand was established in 1938 and is a member of the AIA Group. As of 2023, AIA Thailand covered approximately 30 percent of all life sum assured in the country with the most extensive agency network of over 50,000 agency forces actively servicing nearly 5 million individual policyholders and over 13,000 group insurance schemes. AIA Thailand boasts the highest number of Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) members with over 3,000 MDRT qualifiers and the highest number of IC-licensed agents in the country.
Today’s environmental and social issues have increased the risks for Thai children’s health nationwide. From pollution, PM2.5 (Particulate Matter), to the Covid-19 virus, all these issues have an impact on the physical and mental health of the younger generation.
Children now face higher risks of mental issues from shifting lifestyles, moreover, children do not get enough exercise, have poor nutrition, and tend to be addicted to screens. However, as children spend a large amount of time at school, teachers play a key role in helping students learn how to care for their health. With this AIA Thailand decides to showcase its commitment to helping Thai people live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives, by launching the “AIA Healthiest Schools” program to inspire and educate students with the aim for all children to make healthier choices.
To further promote the program in Thailand, AIA Thailand partnered with the Ministry of Education and the Digital Economy Promotion Agency to reach out to schools nationwide and encourage them to join the program.
Though the program was launched for the first time in 2022, over 260 schools in Thailand registered to use the free learning materials while 65 schools have submitted their progress in driving healthier choices for the AIA Healthiest Schools competition. Schools nationwide have demonstrated creative ways to help their students, staff, teachers, and communities live Healthier, Longer, and Better Lives. Students were very creative in their approach to the program, some initiated waste management programs, some grew their own vegetables, and some held events to promote healthier eating and sustainable living.
Because AIA Thailand provides online learning materials in both Thai and English for students aged 4-16 years old, schools can access, download, and adapt the materials to be used in classrooms in any way that fits the needs of the schools and students. With these versatile materials, AIA Thailand believes that schools will keep using these materials that promote Healthy Eating, Active Lifestyles, Mental Well-being, and Health and Sustainability, all of which help students to make healthier lifestyle choices in the long run. When children are accustomed to making healthier choices, it is more likely that they will continue making healthier choices as adults.
“AIA Healthiest Schools” is another program from AIA Thailand that demonstrates its commitment and dedication to giving back to communities and society to help people live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives.
