Cainiao Group, the logistics division of Alibaba Group Holding Limited, has unveiled new logistics and supply chain initiatives in anticipation of its annual 11.11 Global Shopping Festival.
I. Launching ‘Taobao PLUS’ Service in Collaboration with Tmall Taobao World
Cainiao has partnered with Tmall Taobao World to introduce ‘Taobao PLUS’, a new cross-border service brand available in key markets including Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia. As the official cross-border logistics provider for Tmall Taobao World, Cainiao will offer free shipping, free local returns, and tax-free services*. Utilizing Cainiao’s streamlined supply chain, consumers in these markets will benefit from more convenient and efficient logistics services.
This 11.11, consumers in Hong Kong need to spend over RMB 99, RMB 49 in Macao, or RMB 249 in Taiwan to qualify for a free upgrade to premium logistics services, including free shipping and tax waivers. Singaporean consumers can avail free air or sea shipping with a minimum spending of RMB 249, while in Malaysia, the service is available for just RMB 199.
II. Enhancing Logistics Stability and Timeliness through Supply Chain Upgrades
Customers on Taobao and Tmall in Hong Kong and Macao will now enjoy guaranteed next-day delivery for consolidated orders. Singapore and Malaysia customers can expect five-day delivery for consolidated orders. To accommodate the increased demand during 11.11, Cainiao has expanded its consolidation and distribution warehouses to over 50,000 square meters. Additionally, thousands of direct truck delivery trips from China to Hong Kong and part-time warehouse employees have been added.
III. Improving Last-Mile Logistics in Hong Kong
In Hong Kong, Cainiao has strengthened its last-mile capabilities by adding hundreds of new self-collection points. Over 50 self-collection points now operate on weekends, offer large parcel storage, and extended operating hours, ensuring a seamless customer experience.
As of July 2023, Cainiao boasts over 2.6 million users in Hong Kong, meaning one in every three residents utilizes Cainiao’s services. The self-operated logistics network includes distribution centers, self-collection points, a dedicated China-Hong Kong trucking network, and local courier delivery services.
Beyond mainland China, Cainiao extends its cross-border eCommerce logistics services to Taobao and Tmall consumers in 15 countries and regions.
