The Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA) 2023 is pleased to honor 78 outstanding business leaders and enterprises for championing sustainable and responsible business practices. Ms. Shi-Kuan Chen was among the recipients who were conferred with the Responsible Business Leadership Award. Whereas, SinoPac Financial Holdings Company Limited (SinoPac) won the Social Empowerment, Investment in People, Green Leadership, Corporate Governance, and Corporate Sustainability Reporting Awards.
Ms. Chen is the Chairman of SinoPac. Carrying the gentle and firm leadership qualities of women and a steady and forward-looking business philosophy, she cultivates the company with solid sustainable governance. Ms. Chen actively establishes a top-down culture of sustainability and deepens the governance and supervision of the Board over the company’s sustainable development.
For its Social Empowerment Award, SinoPac achieved an SROI analysis result of 2.66 for its “Let’s Go to the Theatre” event. The event encourages students to enter the arts and culture center to enjoy performances, the company looks forward to narrowing people’s distance to art through relaxed and interesting art performances that can still promote social and cultural power.
For its Investment in People Award, the percentage of digital technology professionals in the company’s major subsidiaries has increased from 9.2% in 2019 to 10.4% by the end of 2022. Moving forward, SinoPac aspires to achieve an overall 11% ratio of digital technology professionals to total employees within the company.
For its Green Leadership Award, one of the company’s more noteworthy achievements is that at the end of 2022, its subsidiary, Bank SinoPac has accumulatively financed 7,409 solar energy plants in Taiwan with a total installed capacity of 2,832.35 MW. This allowed the company to gain a leading position in the market.
For its Corporate Governance Award, among the achievements of the company’s “Fulfillment Of Trustworthy Governance- Corporate Governance Strategy” project is the complete formulation and implementation of long-term strategic indicators on the five key topics of corporate governance. This is guided by a diverse Board of Directors with various skills and knowledge specialties to share and combine perspectives.
For its Corporate Sustainability Reporting Award, SinoPac upholds its Vision of “Fulfillment of a Beautiful Life Through Finance” and provides complete financial solutions with sincerity, integrity, and professionalism. In 2022, the Board of Directors of the company approved the pledge to achieve Net Zero emissions in its own operations by 2030 and the entirety of its financial portfolios by 2050. The company has also been maintaining open communication with various stakeholders on its sustainability progress as the company moves forward. Ms. Chen’s leadership and SinoPac’s top-down application of resources and cross-company dedication to sustainability have been recognized in domestic and international evaluations and have won the company multiple sustainability awards.
