Daimler Truck Launches its First-ever Mercedes-Benz eActros Fully-Electric Truck in Singapore

Daimler Commercial Vehicles South East Asia (DCVSEA), South-east Asian entity of Daimler Truck AG, has introduced the first-ever Mercedes-Benz eActros 300 fully-electric truck in Singapore, driving further commitment in working with partners and truck users in the region towards an eco-friendly commercial transportation future.

As the world’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, Daimler Truck takes a leap in creating a sustainable business-oriented ecosystem, from offering a wide range of large-scale environmentally-friendly trucks to eConsulting services that seek to minimise the environmental impact of transportation globally. Daimler Truck delivered their first local unit of the eActros 300 in Singapore to German logistic giant DB Schenker which will serve their local operations.

The introduction of the eActros in Singapore will offer local businesses looking to electrify their commercial fleets with features such as impressive range, power output, fast charging capability, adaptability for daily use, and application flexibility. Additionally, low noise levels and the ability to drive with zero CO2 emissions are also crucial considerations that the eActros 300 addresses.

As the flagship series of Mercedes-Benz trucks, the eActros has been the preferred choice for numerous commercial vehicle users. It is the first fully-electric series-production truck bearing the three-pointed star and thus marks an important step in the direction of locally CO2-neutral goods transport. Specially developed for heavy-duty short-radius distribution, the eActros stands for sustainability and, thanks to its resource-friendly nature, also serves to improve the image of transport companies, while rendering the job of truck drivers more attractive. The eActros also enables the ability to re-think regional and local short-radius distribution.

“We are proud to be leading the charge in electric truck innovation. As the world faces the urgent need to reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change, Daimler Truck remains at the forefront of developing sustainable alternatives,” says Harald Schmid, CEO, DCVSEA. “We believe that the eActros will revolutionise the transportation industry and we are committed to partnering with businesses and governments to drive the widespread adoption of electric trucks for a more sustainable future.”

The logistics sector is facing a number of challenges, including environmental regulations and the need to transport goods sustainably. As global transport volume increases, Daimler Truck believes in collaborative partnerships with governments, businesses and communities that share the same sustainable development strategies, goals and visions to create a sustainable ecosystem that benefits everyone.

“We recognise that transportation contributes to climate change, but we are committed to being part of the solution. Our eActros, developed and tested extensively in collaboration with our customers, marks a significant step towards CO2–neutral transportation for Mercedes-Benz Trucks and our customers.” said Karin Rådström, Member of the Board of Management at Daimler Truck AG and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks.

DCVSEA, together with authorised dealer Cycle & Carriage Industries, have partnered key industry players such as DBS Bank and TÜV SÜD for the local launch of the eActros. Meanwhile, the first owner DB Schenker shared their positive customer journey experience with the eActros.

Redefining the EV adoption experience

The procurement of an electrified truck must be financially worthwhile in the daily operations of transport businesses, from usable routes to charging infrastructure. eMobility is more than just a new drive system; it is a business-oriented ecosystem. To ensure that customers are assisted along their entire journey when it comes to EV adoption, Mercedes-Benz Trucks offers advice in the form of eConsulting, as well as the calculation and optimisation of the total cost of ownership (TCO).

eConsulting is a part of Daimler Truck’s integrated eActros solution. The full-service offering starts by using a customer’s existing route plans to establish a usage profile for electric trucks. eConsulting also includes comprehensive advice on how to use the vehicle efficiently and how to optimise the total operating costs.

Daimler Truck is dedicated to achieving CO2-neutral goods transport by using battery-electric and hydrogen-based fuel-cell technologies. By 2039, the company plans to transition its entire European product portfolio to electric vehicles. This commitment is driven by a sense of social responsibility for climate protection and aligns with the Paris Agreement’s goal of decarbonising the transport sector.
