The AREA serves as a badge of excellence to spur further innovation and best-practice sharing for your organization and the world at large.

E Ink Holdings Inc. (E Ink) was among the recipients who were conferred with the Green Leadership Award. E Ink is the originator and commercial leader of ePaper (aka Digital Paper) technology. Its distinguished low-power and visually comfortable displays are suited for eReaders, eNotes, IoT, retail, transportation, and beyond, enabling customers to make surfaces smart and sustainable where previously impossible.

Solar-powered ePaper signs operate independently from the power grid, offering a low-carbon and sustainable alternative that transforms cities to be smart and green in the inevitable trend of city digital transformation. E Ink works to persistently refine ePaper technology, foster product adoption, engage with ecosystem partners, and nurture an ePaper ecosystem to advance applications in bus stop signage. The company aims to promote intelligent, low-carbon city development, expediting Net Zero objectives, and advancing environmental sustainability.

ePaper enables smart bus stop signs to operate without consuming power from the power grid, ensuring uninterrupted service during emergencies and enabling real-time route guidance. ePaper-enabled signs offer multilingual support, enhancing the traveler experience and boosting local tourism revenue. This product also contributes to the sustainable development of cities in developing nations. By the end of 2022, there were over 30,000 ePaper bus stop signs worldwide, with significant numbers in Asia, the Middle East, North America, Europe, and Australia.

E Ink, a key player in the field of green technology, is actively expanding the ePaper ecosystem by collaborating with eight module manufacturers, fourteen semiconductor companies, and seven TFT backplane suppliers. In 2020, E Ink spearheaded the establishment of the ePaper Industry Alliance, which attracted 134 member companies by the end of 2022. This alliance aims to promote the adoption of energy-efficient, non-light-polluting, and bio-friendly ePaper technology to be applied around the world.

E Ink actively collaborates with ecosystem partners to support the development of intelligent and low-carbon cities, focusing on promoting smart ePaper bus stop signs and other applications. These solar-powered signs, featuring energy-efficient ePaper displays, replace traditional printed and LCD signs, contributing to the transportation industry’s digital transformation while reducing power consumption and carbon emissions. E Ink will continue to advance its ePaper technology, aiming for greater energy efficiency and reduced material usage.

The company will also continue to foster the development of the ePaper ecosystem, creating diverse and sustainable solutions. In 2022, E Ink joined the Global Renewable Energy Initiative RE100, that has the goals set to reach RE20 by the end of 2022, RE40 by 2025, and full RE100 compliance by 2030. Additionally, E Ink aims to achieve Net Zero carbon emissions by 2040 and encourages its supply chain partners to join E Ink’s sustainability commitment and contribute to a more sustainable world together.
