Enlit Asia, the premier end-to-end power and energy summit in ASEAN, is set to make its much-anticipated return to Kuala Lumpur for its 2024 edition. This event is organized in collaboration with Malaysia’s Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), the Ministry of Science, Energy and Innovation (MOSTI), and leading utility company, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).
This annual conference unites two major power and energy sector events, POWERGEN Asia and Asian Utility Week, and will gather top industry experts from across the region. The event will be held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) from 8th to 10th October 2024.
Under the theme “Enabling a Multidimensional Energy Transition in ASEAN,” Enlit Asia is closely aligned with Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR). The agenda is designed to foster cross-industry and cross-border collaboration, addressing the region’s distinct energy challenges.
Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Haji Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), will deliver the ministerial opening remarks at the event.
Building on the success of last year’s event in Jakarta, Enlit Asia returns to Kuala Lumpur, where it debuted in 2019. Key stakeholders for this year’s edition include Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) and the Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia (SEDA) as supporting agencies, Sarawak Energy as the Malaysian partner, and CGN Edra as the Energy partner.
The event expects to attract over 12,000 attendees from more than 50 countries, including 3,000 utilities and independent power producers (IPP). The economic impact is projected to reach RM134.6 million, with RM8.2 million in visitor expenditure.
Simon Hoare, Portfolio Director of Energy for Enlit Asia, highlighted Malaysia’s significance in the region, stating, “As a Southeast Asian economic powerhouse, Malaysia not only ranks second in regional business maturity but also has a strong 28% contribution from energy-intensive industries within its GDP.
“Malaysia has laid a solid foundation as a leader in the clean and renewable energy sectors, making it an ideal location to drive industry advancements. Our return to Malaysia this year is expected to further ASEAN’s energy transition while bringing the country closer to its sustainability goals.”
The three-day conference will feature over 400 influential speakers and 350 exhibitors from across the energy sector, showcasing a wide array of prominent figures and experts from ASEAN and Malaysia. Among the notable speakers are Beni Suryadi, Deputy Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre of Energy; Akhirio Ondo, CEO and Managing Director of Mitsubishi Power Asia Pacific; Dato’ Ir. Ts. Abdul Razib bin Dawood, CEO of the Energy Commission Malaysia; Datuk Haji Sharbini Suhaili, Group CEO of Sarawak Energy; Mohd Zarihi Bin Mohd Hashim, Chief New Energy Officer (CNEO) of TNB; and Hasmarizal Bin Hassan, Chief Grid Officer (CGO) of TNB, Enlit Asia’s official utility partner.
Attendees can expect a mix of high-level strategy sessions, technical presentations, and interactive exhibits. Sponsors such as Mitsubishi Power, Trilliant Networks, GE Vernova, Black & Veatch, G&W Electric, S&P Global Commodity Insights, Wärtsilä, Shell, and Oracle will power the exhibition floor.
Key topics include energy transformation, renewable energy, power generation, energy storage, hydrogen, ammonia, and more, providing a comprehensive look at the entire energy value chain—from source to generation and grid to consumer.
