Presented by leading regional NGO Enterprise Asia, Formosa Solar Renewable Power Group has been recognized as a winner of the Green Leadership category at the Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards 2024. Green leadership in corporations requires leaders to integrate eco-friendly strategies into business operations, such as reducing carbon footprints, implementing energy-efficient technologies, and fostering a culture of sustainability among employees and stakeholders.

Formosa Solar Renewable Power Group (Formosa Solar) is a key player in Taiwan’s shift towards green energy, focusing on the development of solar photovoltaic (PV) plants that emphasize both environmental protection and community engagement. Founded in 2016, the company is dedicated to supporting Taiwan’s energy transition by integrating solar power with sustainable land use and actively participating in local community initiatives.

The company’s strategy for its award-winning “The Most Reliable And Leading Partner In Taiwan’s Energy Transition” project revolves around delivering clean energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and fostering green economic growth and job creation. Central to Formosa Solar’s mission is its commitment to social responsibility and collaboration with various stakeholders, including suppliers, governments, local communities, and customers. This approach is reflected in their annual solar education camps, which aim to instill energy and ecological awareness while providing support to disadvantaged groups.

Formosa Solar prioritizes environmental sustainability by conducting long-term ecological surveys and monitoring for solar power plants situated in sensitive areas. The goal is to ensure that solar energy projects coexist harmoniously with the local ecosystem. Each unit of green electricity produced by Formosa Solar contributes to the broader objective of Net Zero emissions, reinforcing the company’s dedication to environmental stewardship.

Since its inception, Formosa Solar has successfully developed over 490 solar PV projects across Taiwan, generating a total of 870 million kWh of electricity by June 2024. This output supports approximately 63,000 households annually. Additionally, Formosa Solar enhances community spaces by integrating solar power generation with recreational facilities, creating multifunctional environments that offer safe, inclusive, and green public spaces for community use. Through the “The Most Reliable And Leading Partner In Taiwan’s Energy Transition” project, Formosa Solar has showcased its ability as an effective green leader, championing innovative solutions for resource conservation while also engaging with the community to drive positive environmental change.
