Organized by leading regional NGO, Enterprise Asia, the company brings back the long-awaited Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA) 2024. It is the Provincial Electricity Authority’s (PEA) pride and joy to present its “PEA Cares For You” project and the “Provincial Electricity Authority Sustainability Report 2022” as winners of the Social Empowerment and Corporate Sustainability Reporting categories respectively.
Following the recent flood in many areas, PEA decided to carry out the “PEA Cares For You” project. The residents within the servicing areas of the PEA and their household electrical systems were affected drastically. Hence, as mitigations, PEA performed maintenance and provided new household electric equipment, including receptacles, switches, cables, and light bulbs on those that were damaged by the flood. PEA also heightened the meter plates for safer usage and supported the use of spare power generators.
PEA integrated various strategies into this CSR project. These include separating circuits of different stories (for buildings or housings with 2 stories); installing RCD residual-current circuit breakers; installing an electricity grounding system; switching from rotating meters to electronic meters; heightening meters from 1.50 meters to 2.70 meters; and many more. To alleviate the distress of electricity users, PEA proceeded to assist the population in improving and replacing electrical equipment in households, such as sockets, electrical switches, electrical wires, light bulbs, etc.
The “Provincial Electricity Authority Sustainability Report 2022” is also deserving of high praise. The PEA Strategic Plan 2022 – 2026 is formulated with the following four strategic objectives. The first strategic objective is for the company to focus on core business enablers for sustainability. Its second strategic objective is to leverage the efficiency of its distribution system and build credibility with all stakeholders. PEA also aims to achieve digital utility capabilities and aiming to become a regional leader of the future. Its final strategic objective is to enhance the performance of the PEA business portfolio.
PEA also considers ethics and responsibility to stakeholders, both internal and external, to be very important, which it performs with transparency and accountability. PEA works with the Board of Directors regularly to ensure that business regulations are adhered to with honesty and prudence by the governance and sustainable development committees.
Moving forward, PEA will continue to showcase its commitment and dedication to carrying out helpful CSR projects and fully transforming the company to enact sustainable operations.
