SIAM KUBOTA Corporation Co., Ltd. (SIAM KUBOTA) intends to lead by example through its “Nong Phak Bung Model” project which empowers farmers by leveraging technology and innovation to boost their income and productivity. Alongside this objective, the company’s “Zero Burn Project” guides organizations toward a sustainable economic model that minimizes waste and maximizes resource efficiency. These CSR projects have also claimed awards under the Social Empowerment and Circular Economy Leadership categories respectively at the Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards 2024.
In 2018, SIAM KUBOTA utilized its “Nong Phak Bung Model” to provide valuable opportunities for local farmers, offering access to knowledge, technology, and innovation in agricultural machinery, along with the development of modern farming skills. The company’s goal is to transform these farmers into a Smart Farming Model Community, enabling them to share knowledge with others and promote sustainable development.
As a part of the project’s achievements, the “Nong Phak Bung Model” has developed to become a learning center, sharing water management knowledge with other farmers. The community’s happiness index shows an average score of 94%, and 17% of the new generation has returned to farming in the community.
On the other hand, unmanaged agricultural waste (which is often burned, leading to severe air pollution which directly affects health conditions and soil degradation) led to the inception of the “Zero Burn Project” initiative, aiming to mitigate air pollution caused by open burning in agricultural areas. SIAM KUBOTA’s Zero Burn Solution helps farmers reduce costs and generate additional income.
SIAM KUBOTA organized the “Zero Burn Project” to be a Role Model. The company established Zero Burn agricultural models in each area under the End-to-End Solution concept. This concept aims to change farmers’ mindsets to practice Zero Burn agriculture, enabling them to create benefits for the entire community, including straw baling contractors, transport workers, and truck drivers.
This project has also successfully built up community cooperation and partnered with key stakeholders such as local distributors, the government, and various businesses, demonstrating the power of collective effort. Since 2020, the company has conducted over 500 events with more than 30,000 participants resulting in generating an income of USD 116,600 within the MOUs provinces.
As a leading advocate for circular economy models, SIAM KUBOTA has developed innovative approaches to the “Nong Phak Bung Model” and “Zero Burn Project” initiatives, aiming to promote sustainability for farmers in Thailand. SIAM KUBOTA has recognized the potential for economic growth, job creation, and environmental preservation within the circular framework, and championed its adoption as a strategic imperative for underserved communities.
