The Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA) 2024 is pleased to honor Kindom Group for championing sustainable and responsible business practices. Presented by leading regional NGO Enterprise Asia, the AREA is the most reputable award recognition program recognizing organizational efforts in creating a culture of compassion, integrity and being socially responsible corporate citizens.
Kingdom Group was among the companies that were conferred with the Social Empowerment and Green Leadership trophies for its “Kind-Repair Cycling Project” project and “Implement Scientific Carbon Reduction And Comprehensive Net-Zero Buildings” project respectively.
The activities of the “Kind-Repair Cycling Project” include a collaboration with the “Love Big Platform” of the New Taipei City Social Affairs Bureau. The Love Big Platform plays a role in integrating resources, matching resources based on case needs, and applying resources to suitable aspects. Kingdom Group’s subsidiary, Kedge Construction Co., Ltd., led this project with its expertise in construction management and focused on remote villages in Kaohsiung, where building materials are difficult to transport and the lack of work manpower is extreme.
According to the SROI analysis conducted by KPMG, every 1 dollar made in the “Kind-Repair Cycling Project” can create a social value of 7.62 dollars. The post-project investigation suggests that for the stakeholders (Kedge employees, third-party suppliers, and disadvantaged households assisted), “Spiritual Satisfaction” (44.27%) is regarded as the most beneficial item, followed by “Improving The Living Environment” (26.66%) and “Enhancing Family Interaction” (10.74%). The project has contributed to more than 30 disadvantaged families, with a total of 40 beneficiaries.
On the other hand, the “Implement Scientific Carbon Reduction And Comprehensive Net-Zero Buildings” project not only reflects Kindom Group’s dedication to environmental stewardship but also demonstrates its strategic approach to integrating sustainability into the Group’s core business operations, thereby fostering a culture of responsibility and innovation within the organization. The Group’s strategies involve a holistic approach to embedding ESG into its business model, including the installation of smart meters for intelligent energy monitoring, promoting the use of electric machinery and vehicles, and encouraging sustainable commuting practices among employees.
As a part of the project’s achievements, the Group is well on its way to achieving a 42% reduction in carbon emissions at its headquarters by 2030 through energy efficiency improvements and behavior management initiatives among employees. By 2025, its operations will transition to 100% green electricity, further supporting renewable energy. The Group’s proactive approach has garnered positive feedback from stakeholders and has significantly contributed to the local community’s well-being.
Looking ahead, Kingdom Group’s ESG project is poised for expansion and innovation, focusing on enhancing its sustainability initiatives and exploring new areas for improvement. Additionally, the Group will be expanding the “Kind-Repair Cycling Project” to focus on the issue of “long-term care for the elderly” with the aims of collaborating with social workers, understanding case needs, and increasing the provision of suitable aids.
