Nan Shan Life Insurance Co., Ltd. (Nan Shan) was among the recipients who were conferred with the Investment in People and Corporate Sustainability Reporting Award. Founded in July 1963, Nan Shan is one of the most long-standing insurance companies in Taiwan, known for professional management and sound finances. Nan Shan engages in the business of Life, Health, Personal Accident, and Annuity insurance, together with Nan Shan General Insurance (NSGI), a subsidiary engaging in General Insurance.
For its Investment in People Award, Nan Shan invests in talent development and strives to create a healthy and vibrant workplace. With a focus on appealing employee benefits, the company strives to provide a healthy workplace and healthy career while promoting general good health among its staff.
The company actively attracts, recruits, develops, and retains talent. Moreover, in alignment with Nan Shan’s corporate sustainability strategy (H.E.A.R.T.), it is dedicated to full efforts of health promotion and talent empowerment by integrating and leveraging the relevant resources. This ongoing investment in talent enables the company to progress towards its long-term sustainability goals.
Owing to the digital cultural transformation and talent transition, To promote the company’s goals of health promotion, employee well-being, a healthy work environment, and career development, a total of approximately 10 departments, including the Human Resources department, were involved. To this end, the employee participation satisfaction rate reached about 90%.
For its Corporate Sustainability Reporting Award, Nan Shan has established five major themes for sustainability that serve as the criteria for sustainable operations and promotions, maximizing the synergy of Nan Shan’s diverse functions. These themes are Health Promotion, Earth Conservation, Action for Good, Reliability, and Talent Empowerment; altogether, these themes form the acronym “H.E.A.R.T.”.
With a forward-looking vision, Nan Shan will establish sustainable goals and develop solid action plans to co-create sustainability with its stakeholders and drive positive changes in sustainable development.
For the past 60 years, Nan Shan has served its customers and cared for society. By incorporating the concept of sustainability into its DNA, Nan Shan converted its principles of sustainability into the aforementioned H.E.A.R.T. theme which is closely relevant to its core business and competencies.
In addition to actively responding to its stakeholders’ appeals and expectations through various communication channels (such as questionnaires and visits), Nan Shan also assesses their issues of concerns and the current levels of public satisfaction with its information disclosure as a basis for Nan Shan to develop, execute, evaluate, and improve its operations.
The future goal of the company is to continuously invest in talent and safeguard employee health. Nan Shan will continue to listen to the voices of its employees and align their feedback with the company’s strategy to create a healthy and vibrant workplace together. The company will also carry on ensuring that the report is also provided, compiled, and consolidated by various departments, including the Nan Shan Life Charity Foundation and its subsidiary the Nan Shan General Insurance Company.
