Singapore Airlines has been making good progress in creating a superior passenger experience for its customers. In February 2023, the airline made Wi-Fi connectivity on-board free for its premium cabin customers and some of the most loyal ones. Singapore Airlines has now introduced free wifi for all their KrisFlyer members, which will be available effective July 2023.
Singapore Airlines to launch unlimited free Wi-Fi across all cabins in July 2023
Singapore Airlines has announced a new update to its Wi-Fi offering, which is very positive for its customers. So far, Singapore Airlines is offering free Wi-Fi to the following passengers:
- Suites/First Class (Unlimited)
- Business Class (Unlimited)
- PPS Club Members in any cabin (Unlimited)
- KrisFlyer Members travelling in Premium Economy (three hours)
- KrisFlyer Members travelling in Economy (two hours)
Effective July 1, 2023, Singapore Airlines will move to offer complimentary unlimited Wi-Fi to all its passengers who are KrisFlyer members. This means that effective July 1, 2023, the offering will move to the following:
- Suites/First Class (Unlimited)
- Business Class (Unlimited)
- PPS Club Members in any cabin (Unlimited)
- KrisFlyer Members travelling in Premium Economy and Economy (Unlimited via KrisFlyer membership)
Wi-Fi is available throughout Singapore Airlines’ fleet, including their Airbus A350s, A380s, Boeing 777s, 787s and 737 MAXs. The only planes not to offer Wi-Fi (altogether) are their seven Boeing 737-800s, as those planes don’t feature Wi-Fi.
Phee Teik Yeoh, Singapore Airlines’ SVP of Customer Experience, says, “In today’s increasingly hyper-connected world, high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi connectivity is one of the most important requirements for our customers. Giving them access to free unlimited Wi-Fi is yet another milestone in SIA’s continuous effort to offer an exceptional end-to-end travel experience. With this enhanced offering, our customers will be empowered to stay connected, entertained, and productive, even at 36,000 feet in the sky.”
“With this, Singapore Airlines has become one of the first airlines globally to offer all customers free Wi-Fi on an ongoing basis. As an airline with a global reach, this should help them get more customers to sign up for their KrisFlyer loyalty programme and a competitive advantage for those who care to use Wi-Fi on board (I almost always don’t!). If one is not a member, they can also sign up for it on board,” she added.
Bottomline
Singapore Airlines is adding a new freebie to their flights, and effective July 1, all guests on board can access free Wi-Fi with no caps as long as they can provide a KrisFlyer membership in their name. This becomes one of the first widespread instances of free Wi-Fi globally being offered by an airline.
