Thai Communities Embrace New Water Conservation Methods in the “TCP Embracing Thailand’s River Basin” Project by TCP Group

Social empowerment initiatives usually target marginalized groups, including women, minorities, and economically disadvantaged individuals, so that they can break free from cycles of oppression and discrimination. By increasing an individual’s societal participation, they can have access to resources and the ability to make meaningful decisions that affect one’s life. It is TCP Group’s pride and joy to enable this with its “TCP Embracing Thailand’s River Basin” project which was also a winner of the Social Empowerment category, presented by the Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards 2024, an event organized by leading regional NGO, Enterprise Asia.

TCP Group is a leading beverage and food company in Thailand and the owner of the world’s most iconic energy drink brand “Red Bull”, announced the launch of the “TCP Embracing Thailand’s River Basin” project which aims to promote sustainable development of water resources, environment, and local communities. The project focuses on water security for consumption, including better livelihood, and a stable local economy to ensure the long-term sustainability of the farmers’ income.

Under the 5-year plan of the “TCP Embracing Thailand’s River Basin” project, TCP Group expects to positively impact over 16,000 households in 6 provinces across 3 river basin areas reaching over 12 million cubic meters of water supply for consumption.

The “TCP Embracing Thailand’s River Basin” project has partnered with the Utokapat Foundation under the Royal Patronage of HM the King and HII to manage surface water resources in the Yom, Bang Pakong, and Mekong river basins. The company has also been working with the Groundwater Resources Research Institute of Khon Kaen University to improve groundwater resource management and support studies on how to increase groundwater levels and ensure the abundance of surface water.

The project has resulted in an increase of 17 million cubic meters in 5 years, benefiting 40,000 households in 21 provinces (3 basins) with access to water resources for consumption. Additionally, it has managed to create THB 94.5 million in economic value.

TCP Group has shown great integrity and a commitment to its philanthropic spirit. The “TCP Embracing Thailand’s River Basin” project has contributed to the Thai people’s quality of life, enabling them to have access to water and an improved economy.
