The AREA serves as a badge of excellence to spur further innovation and best-practice sharing for your organization and the world at large.

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Fuel Terminal Rewulu (PPPNFTR) was among the recipients who were conferred with the Social Empowerment Award. As a fuel depot, PPPNFTR has been in operation since 1973, covering an area of 18.9 hectares in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, with a capacity of 91,422 kilolitres (KL). It contributes daily to 199 gas stations, 1 fuel terminal, 4 DPPUs, and 128 Pertashops in Yogyakarta, Central Java, and East Java.

PPPNFTR swiftly responded to the Covid-19 pandemic’s impact by initiating “The Joper Chicken Cultivation Program”. This program aimed to empower unemployed young individuals in Bangunjiwo Village, Bantul Regency, Indonesia, by providing them with new job opportunities and fostering environmentally-friendly practices in chicken farming.

The primary goal of “The Joper Chicken Cultivation Program” was to empower at least 15 unemployed youths who had been affected by the pandemic, assisting them in finding new employment. Additionally, the program aimed to promote eco-friendly chicken farming practices and sustainable feed production, reducing the environmental impact and health risks associated with traditional methods.

This program exceeded expectations, by employing 22 participants and encouraging environmentally friendly practices. The income generated by the beneficiaries also exceeded the local minimum wage, contributing to several SDGs as well.

“The Joper Chicken Cultivation Program” has positively impacted the target community in various ways by providing opportunities for 22 young individuals who lost their jobs due to the Covid-19 pandemic, offering them employment and income stability. Additionally, it has empowered 10 housewives who were previously unemployed and enabled 11 agricultural farmers to convert chicken manure into organic fertilizer.

The beneficiaries have experienced increased income levels as the program has also generated substantial revenues and saved expenses for agricultural farmers through the utilization of organic fertilizers derived from chicken manure. Moving on, by utilizing liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as an alternative fuel, the program has reduced approximately 144.54 kg of CO2 emissions per year. Additionally, the conversion of 810 kilograms of chicken manure into organic fertilizer has reduced environmental pollution.

PPPNFTR has plans to replicate “The Joper Chicken Cultivation Program” in other locations, spreading the influence of the program. Additionally, the sales of Joper chicken products in modern markets will be expanded to increase the income of the community.

PPPNFTR is also committed to creating innovative technology for hatching chicks in the breeding process of Joper chickens. This innovation will meet the demand for Day Old Chicks and make the process more efficient.

Furthermore, PPPNFTR intends to enhance the focus areas of the CSR project through empowerment initiatives for underprivileged communities. These initiatives be aligned with the SDGs and serve as a reference for social empowerment activities.
